Little girl, little girl, why are you not sleeping?
Your soul is deeply bruised, your heart’s becoming a stone,
and you are fading away as you’re lying down and weeping.
And he tries, you know he tries, everyday to fix you.
Little girl, forget about the other man; the one who tried to trick you.
The one who tried to act like your father, and then came in your bed
to try to take advantage of you, when he knew you were weak
and trying to start over: your weakness grew farther and farther.
You know those nights where you feel dead and yet you can’t even sleep?
Stay awake, ‘cause in your dreams he will always creep.
You will scream, you will cry, and you will shake and shake.
Even when that warm, bright sun comes up, you will shake
and your heart will continue to ache and ache.
These images you wake up from will never fade away.
The flashbacks will always come to you, and you can try to make them
leave, but they will forever and ever stay.
These dreams and terrible memories will leave some vicious scars
on your hopeless brain.
Making you feel everyday that you’re getting worse and that you may be
insane.
Little girl, little girl, you have no time for tears?
Time for you to stand up strong and face your biggest fears.
This is called growing up; no one said it’d be easy, but you have a
permanent, melancholy frown.
You must fight the current before you drown.
