He sang of cowboys and the old west of gunfights, jealousy, and love El Paso was the song I loved best somehow it fit me like a glove
At such a young age I didn't know why El Paso, Felina, and paths crossed by fate the story staying with me as time passed by He sang of my life it seemed, the tale innate
As I grew up and my life would unfold paths taken and so many voices ignored my heart desperate for someone to hold waiting was something I could not afford
And then one day I met my Felina and in an instant it all made sense El Paso, my dreams, as soon as I'd seen her my place I see now, in the present tense
But as in the song, tragedy took hold my heart, my soul, the other half I'd found not able to feel in this world so cold the voice of my heart now makes no sound
And though the story ends on a different note the hero dies there in the sand my life was still there, in the songs he wrote my love ended by my own hand
The words that touched me so deep now leave my heart torn and so now I can't listen, to Marty anymore
