(Part of a MUCH larger work. Just a little poetic dialogue from it. Note: **** denotes an omitted word. In this case, the word is left out for the sake of context, or lack thereof.)
"It's amazing, isn't it?" The woman had a calming voice. Nothing excessively happy, but not too serious either. It was an average voice, but definitely calm, and kind-sounding.
"Which part?" I could hear my voice, but it was much more like I was watching everything, not like I was in control of any of it.
"All of it. The towers beneath us, the blue sky above us, the endless colors in either directions. It just looks so nice." She was looking out the window at the world around us. It was clear we were in some kind of city, but it looked clean. Not like I imagine the cities were before the **** Revolution. Outside of the city there was nothing but blue and green. It actually looked nice outside. "We made this, ya'know?"
"Yep. I know."
"It's just so beautiful." I felt myself give some kind of agreeing nod as she said this.
"Did you ever wonder if we did the right thing?" I said, after a rather long pause.
"What d'ya mean?" the woman asked, with a casually normal speed.
"I mean, do you ever wonder if maybe we should have left things as they were?"
"Why should we have done that? Is there a problem with what we have now?"
"Well, no. There's no problem with this. It's just, well, look back at all the things we had to do to get here. The people we hurt, tortured, and killed. Everything looks nice and pretty from up here, but every cut leaves a scar."
