About middle school; worst time of my life. You beg not to go You kick, and scream, and put on a show But those once nurturing hands, that kept you safe, Now push, and drag you to never ceasing misery "You need school," they say, "Just ignore what they say for a single day" But their words stab through your heart like stakes One after another, deep in your breast, Lapping up your pain, like vultures on soft flesh No one is on your side No one gives you the comfort you need The ones who are supposed to teach, and protect you, Deny your claims of abuse and look to you for the source of the blame Darkness is closing The posers are posing Terrible and yet righteous thoughts cloud your conscience And every day would cause you to pull, and tear at your hair And you would scream for a different kind of pain It's all your fault It must be Your fault, that you don't have cool, new shoes Your fault, that you're shy and have no friends Your fault, that your daddy never loved you like he should have Your fault, that your alive.
