Footsteps

step by step
i sit here and wait
for the footsteps in the water

when they come
i know they will
make me the perfect daughter

cold and wet
i stand and wait
soaked in water and my blood

im not sure
they might be there
its hard to see through all the mud

shivering now
im not sure why
my body doesnt care

i smile a smile
that everyone knows
the invincible mask that wear

the ripples
i watch them all day
never change to the right shape

the footsteps
will bring my soul
for now this hole does gape

the firey surface
is burning brighter
always getting hotter

my flesh burns
they will never save me
my footsteps in the water
