He is a good man- the very best man- in every sense of the word, and I am twisting within the knowledge that I can never be good enough. He is that strong and proud provider; chivalry circa nineteen-fifty, and my brittle, little body can't achieve his lifelong fantasies. I am not a failure to him; I am a failure for him, and it hurts so hard to appreciate the extent to which he loves me.

Thanks, Dani. Even though things I perfect now, I can't help but think of all the things I won't be able to give Pete years down the road. /ugh

I agree w/ Liss Focus on the perfect of now and worry about the future once it rolls around (so much easier said than done though, right?)

Amazing. I really liked this, it's easy to relate to, but so depressing.

It's so sad, but if you were able to give him everythinig he wanted, you would just become an object, and your relationship would flatline. Perfection is imperfection.

such a well articulated sense of sorrow in this poem. i like the lilting rhythm, it creates an interesting cadence which drives the whole thing onwards.
