Write a poem, in any form you like, that describes your favorite place. It can be a rhyming poem, free-form, haiku, cinquain, etc., as long as it describes this place.
;)Good luck.

On the inside of your eyelids, curled up in your warm singing voice, in moments when nothing is but you and me, when a glance of something unique holds me captured in our alternative reality, that is my favourite place in time and space.

i walk along the white sand white sand like white diamonds a wave rolls in high and fast just to touch my hand i gaze out with hope towards the surf-tormented ocean i watch the white horses, and their run into forever i caress the cool water taste the salt on my lips hear the music in the waves breaking against the rocks and i know this is my favourite place... i come from jeffreys bay in south africa, which is the surf capital of the world...and i live right next to the beach. i couldn't really describe exactly how wonderful it is but i tried anyway! (oh, and 'white horses' are the waves that you see in the distance, just to clear up any confusion there ) hope u enjoy

Nice imagery. Thanks, Melissa. Wow, South Africa is beautiful. -AJ Here's mine: Mari's Backyard In the overgrown grass they plot. Their little hands craft and their mother's heart sings. Delight is the smile on my face as I watch these three trample through this world laughing, crying, and learning. They stretch and reach to the sky like the impatients blooming by the white picket fence. This is a plain, every day and simple backyard choking with all manner of toys: a cluster of sloppy mud buckets, and captured insects in jars, frozen and silent, wild-eyed baby dolls with thier arms open wide waiting in the bushes to be held again, balls, bats, their mother's old purse full of mud, of course, and in each item love permiates like the dependable sunlight all day. This is a home, a school. This is a haven, a refuge. This is the hub of the universe! My sister-in-law is the richest woman in the world and I hope she knows that.

wowies mel and AJ!!!!! man i can't compete with that......... (in jaysie's terms....) Ay yi yi!!!! but here's mine anyway... Burying my nose in your freshly-washed hair I smell a fruit salad in your curls Cuddling in close to your chest I can feel your heartbeat under my gentle fingers As steady and constant as a ticking clock I am comforted and safe in your arms In the warmth of the room and your body My eyelids grow heavy and I snuggle closer I wouldn't be anywhere else but here Knowing that you will always warm me And understanding that you will always love me Because this is my favourite place.

hey wow, thanks guys!! lol, after i wrote this, i went to post it on the curb and decided i wanted to change it...so the revised version is as follows:
Curling up small to fit in your lap I smell the clean motherly-smell that you carry Cuddling in close to your chest I can feel your heartbeat under my gentle fingers As steady and constant as a ticking clock I am comforted and safe in your arms In the warmth of the room and your body My eyelids grow heavy and I snuggle closer I wouldn't be anywhere else but here Knowing that you will always warm me And understanding that you will always love me Because this is my favourite place.
cos i have two favourite places!!! lol

Dear God Flame... Don't know if you're still on here or not, but your first description of your poem brought me back to my favorite place, my husbands arms, curled up together all warm and safe... My beloved Mike passed away 3 years ago, and I do so miss that feeling of his tender, loving embrace.... thank you for that memory again....

i could picture the ocean i could picture the sand i could picture the breeze running through my hands. i could picture the water so cool and inviting i could picture a man very tan and delighting. i could picture a sunset to end the day. i could picture a warm bed where i can lay. i could picture all this but it wouldn't be worth it. i could picture you and then it would be perfect.<3
