Strange how things can happen,
When we least expect them to.
When we’re feeling at our lowest,
And disgusted with the world.
I walked into a subway car,
And sat there all alone.
Angered by the days events
And all that had gone wrong.
Suddenly, when I looked up,
I saw him standing there.
He seemed to look right through me,
As his eyes embraced my thoughts.
I could not help but smile at him.
A question in my gaze.
Curious about his life,
As I watched him with delight.
When he smiled back at me.
He sent a fleeting kiss.
Then out the door he scurried,
As quickly as he’d arrived.
I watched his perfect silhouette
Disappear into the scrambling crowd.
But knew that I would see again,
This stranger in the night.
