Legends are generally created.
When one person's imagination
Is overwelmed by another's words or deeds.
Whether told to each generation
In whispered conversations
Or by history books venerated
Each telling breathes life
Into someone who is usually long gone.
The first person relays just the facts
As they witnessed the acts.
But like the kids' game of telephone
Each person adds their own thoughts
Every time the story is relayed on
And so the Legend grows.
This doesn't make it any less true
Or by any means diminish the value
It merely reflects our humanity.
In our own ability to perservere
To continue on, now and here.
It's a boost of faith
That adds strength
To whatever our religious belief
Or whatever form our HereAfter takes
In the interim, it helps us get through today.
And although we may think our acts
Are dull and mundane
The Legends from the past
Probably thought the same thing.
It's not so much what you do, or don't do.
It's how others perceive you
And your impact and influence upon their lives
That determine whether you will
Become Legendary
And continue to live on
In their hearts and minds.
