I sit there on the bus ride home. So many empty faces. Evasive stares, motionless shadows carved in stone. Each, in their own little dream world.
I smile at one who’s captured my attention, Just by sitting there looking sad. Her face hardens at my gaze Angry I’d invaded her world.
Distraught am I by her pain, Yet my smile she rejects. She’s built her walls so high. She refuses to hear the calls.
The man sits face frowning. Brows tightly knit together. He should be happy going home. Oh well, maybe he lives alone.
So many stories under these masks. So little happiness being shared. So few smiles being given. And they call this life.
I almost feel guilty sitting here, Eyes bright and searching. Just for that one look, that one smile That one ray of Hope…….
