She sat beneath the willow tree, This hot and hazy day. Watching how the children played As her mind began to stray.
Dark moments now forgotten, Haunting ghosts long laid to rest. Soiled paths now trodden heavily Erasing an ugly past.
Squirrels romping playfully at her feet, Birds joyful chirps now echoing , Gentle breeze disturbing the willows branches As she sat and reminisced.
How quickly time had turned her life From that of long ago, When these tiny hidden beauties Would have passed her never known.
Once blinded by her misery So many things were lost. Feeling sorry hadn’t helped her none Except in wasting time.
She found her faith hidden deep within And gathered courage to change what was. She threw her fears into the wind Hesitantly facing what was to come.
Yet now beneath this willow tree, A smile upon her face. She wonders why she had been so afraid To face a brand new day.
