Comfort I hope you find solace hidden somewhere deep in the recesses of your glass.
The unkind words that rolled off your sweet tongue after you imbibed tore my heart in two.
I've walked this road before with someone other than you.
Walking away then was so much easier than it has been now.
Have you found the comfort that sought?
Where shall I go to seek mine because all of my addictions I have left behind?
You pushed and you shoved against my love when the alcohol flowed hot through your veins.
I held on so tight to you ... so tightly but it was like trying to hold onto the stem of a thorny rose during a tornado.
Again I ask you, have you found the comfort that you sought?
Where shall I find mine?
My comfort lay in your arms and your kind, sober words that were a salve to my battered soul.
That's all gone now...
My only comforts are my prayers whispered to God late at night when I'm on my knees in my bedroom floor.
Is there comfort in the cool liquid flowing down your throat that makes your head pound and your stomach heave the next morning?
Comfort...is that what you sought hidden somewhere deep in the recesses of your glass?
