Sunset

As the sun goes down and day turns to night. I open my eyes to the disadvantages of not seeing light. I tremble with fear as i step out the door, I empty my pockets and give what little change i have to the poor. The man smiles and holds out his hand, as I search to end the emptiness I feel encircling the earth in this land. I sit on the bench and watch the light turn from red to green, time stops for that split second leaving us to clear the thoughts from our head. I dust the dirt from beneath my shoe, as I gaze at the settling sky in its dark shades of blue. The soft wind breezes against my face as I remember the moments as a child i thought time would erase. Laughing and playing with no dangers in my mind, and holding close the ties that bind. But now as i stand in the bitter cold, I lack the understanding of the meaning of Life as it begins to unfold. unsure of which path I should choose and regretting the loved ones I know i'll eventually lose. but from deep in the pit of my heart, I know i have the chance to make a fresh start. And as I lay back down and close my eyes. Another day emerges an the sun begins to rise.
