Kinds of Love
When people speak of "kinds of love"
I wonder what that means.
Love exists in one pure form,
there are no in-betweens.
There are no other requisites,
that's the only guide
love is unconditional,
that's all that it can be,
trust & understanding
will combine quite naturally.
These things cannot exist
unless real love is all around,
and "Love" that needs conditions
is not love at all I've found.
Because love is nothing sexual,
nor is it hot & cold
love comes from the heart,
& can be neither bought or sold.
It's a feeling first & foremost,
emotionally based,
true love cannot be jealous,
true love is not two-faced.
To love is not to force someone
to live a certain way,
love wouldn't be so bold as to ignore
what loved ones say.
Real love does not manipulate,
nor judge the things we do
it yearns to please, not to challenge
every different point of view.
When someone says they are "in love"
it's pure infatuation
& when people say they "make love"
that's just their interpretation.
If respect for one another's needs
are things they hold most dear
then chances are they have "real love"
& nothing else to fear.
Commitment is an expression
of the love we feel inside,
but often we commit ourselves
for reasons that we hide.
Real love does not demand it,
it needs not to scheme & plot,
commitment may reflect real love,
but often it does not.
Love is not a mystery,
nor something so complex
it isn't a commitment,
it isn't making love,
it isn't fickle undertones,
it's not a game to win.
It's wholesome & emotional,
an aura from within
love is pure acceptance first,
of all things said & done,
it has no place with those who see
themselves as number one.
It is fully non-discriminate,
allows all lives to live
it certainly does not reside
with those who cannot give.
