Shell

My body is a shell
a prison at least.
why is my soul in this hell
what am I a beast

To ants I am giant
to myself I am small
why is it so quiet
this mess of a hall

I am both warden and prisoner of this miserable place
why do people around me walk with such haste
should I escape with pain
or embrace with love
with the grace of a crane
of the wings of a dove

am I to mask this shell with feelings of pride
or have disgust and hate make this body divide
